Body suspension (or just suspension) is the act of hanging your body from hooks pierced through your skin.
The oldest known acts of suspension dates back more than 5000 years.
In India, body suspension was a religious act for hindus. Suspension was often performed during the Thaipusam festival, that’s still being hold today.
We also have the possibility to combine body suspension with shibari, Japanese rope bondage.
Why would anyone hang from hooks?
The same question could be asked to those who jump out of planes or from mountains, or those who run a marathon. Each person have their reasons.
For the adrenaline junkie it’s a rush that can’t be compared with anything else. For some it’s about crossing limits. For some it’s art. For some it’s a rite of passage.
Most people who try suspension, will do it again and again.
Most people who try suspension will experience a rush of endorphins.
